Hi,
Sorry for being awkward. I would want to spare you from being on the receiving end of it hence writing it out. Thank you for understanding this. Starting with a few clarifications.
- I don’t think I am in any delulu. When you have MBA friends, acquaintances, and batchmates who are switching ‘jobs’ left right, and center (though, not the two friends that I have), then it’s tough to be in a delulu.
It becomes more of a conscious choice of what situation I am putting myself in. Also, the battle I want in my life is not of “what is my next job switch” but of “how do I build/scale this to its biggest given my specialization in my field”. - Due to that position of mine, I am also aware of what opportunities I am forgoing and what other opportunities I am embracing. There is one metric that doesn’t look optimized (obviously) and is likely to not look optimized even in the next year, when you might compare it with others. That’s because of the time I have taken to find Product-Market Fit, to find my following.
For instance, the first 4 iterations of the product were start-stop. While I could’ve put jet wings to them with CL (or through paid ads), I stopped them the moment I realized these weren’t good. Had I scaled them, I would’ve lost face. Ref. DMART vs. Big Bazaar.
Same is the case for my YT. It took me quite some time to find my position/voice and when I did, I grew a lot in the last 6 months. - I am not scared of the difficult conversations. In fact, I had made you aware of my situation a few weeks back, much before my b’day or anything. So, you know exactly what it is, how it is.
- Having said all of this, is there any other path that I have, that I would want to take? No.
I think it will be a change of my personality, lifestyle, and beliefs for me to do that and that is not aligned with what I want to do in the future, at least as of now. - How does it look like from here? In my view, the path I am on, as your expertise, following, and knowledge grows, it is unlikely that there is any way in which you would do worse off than you were doing yesterday.
For example:
Very unlikely that you’d sell a lesser no. of products at 50K following that you are doing at 15K following.
Very unlikely that once you are all over the channels of a bigger company you are trying to piggyback on, you can not be in the minds of your audience.
So, for me, the journey I am on is exciting to me. It has an exponential, almost infinite upside when it takes off. And once you see it, you can’t really think about anything else.
